The Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech completed its racing season on Saturday September 22, 2018 with a great evening of exciting action. Our friends at Jacob-Dietz Fire Protection Specialists presented this night of racing. The Superior Finish Lawn & Landscape INEX Legends had their penultimate touring points event. Fast time Ryan Miller marched from his 11th starting position to take top honors in the 35-lap main. It was title capping time for the karts on Saturday night September 22nd at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. Circle City Pyrotechnics Junior Faskart feature #1 saw Tyler Morefield earn a very popular victory over Nathan Brown, Ashton Murello, John Hargraves Jr, and Johnny Bishop. The grand racing finale of the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech season came on Saturday September 22, 2018. The Shelbyville Auto Parts Thundercars put a bow or should I say “tied” a bow to their July-August-September campaign. MANY GREAT STORIES COME FROM SPEEDROME DEMO DERBY NIGHT
The Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech had a vast array of vehicles competing on Saturday September 15th. The evening was presented by the Hoosier Lottery and CSL Plasma. The FWD Demolition Derby was one of the best ever! It featured a final duel that went on for a while. In the end, it was JB Graham making his grand return after decades off the pavement to win over a very tough Cole Rhoton. Graylynn Grayer was third. KESTLER CLAIMS SNOW SHOVEL 100, SMITH TAKES STOCK CROWN
The Stock division season came to a close Saturday night September 15th at Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. The final 2018 task, a century-length feature titled the Snow Shovel 100. Former champ Doug Greig set quick time in qualifying at 14.392 seconds. Kenny Rackley took the early lead in the main. Kentucky’s Mike Kestler took over on lap 8 and never looked back. It was his 3rd victory of the year. THE MARKSMAN MAKES MONDAY HIS OWN, WINS 2ND WORLD CROWN
It took 5 days, but in the end “the Marksman” Mark Tunny won a heart-pounding Shelby Materials World Figure 8 Championship on Monday night September 10th. 49 teams from 5 states were on hand for this 42nd annual 3-Hour Endurance Race held at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech with $20,000 going to the winner. The track is so thankful for the support of everyone involved in dealing with the hardships from the unprecedented hand Mother Nature and the remnants of hurricane Gordon dealt us over a long weekend.....click to read more


WORLD FIGURE 8 CHAMPIONSHIP SPECIAL AWARDS
The 42nd annual World Figure 8 Championship 3-Hour Endurance Race is now in the books. BISHOP, SMITH, NEAT, GLADISH WIN FIRST SEPTEMBER FEATURES
Besides the All Star 200, there were 4 additional classes in action Saturday September 1st at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. The Circle City Pyrotechnics Junior Faskarts had its very competitive season continue with a 10th different feature winner in the class for drivers ages 7 to 15. Johnny Bishop was best taking first in the 20-lap main over Nathan Brown, John Hargraves Jr, Jalen Summers, and Jayden Durham. BROOKS BECOMES FIRST REPEAT WINNER IN ALL STAR 200 HISTORY
The Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech hosted its longest scheduled distance race of the season Saturday September 1st. It was the 12th Annual All Star 200 for the Last Chance Wrecker Factory Front Wheel Drives. An event record 59 cars were on hand. The top 12 in points were locked in to the 40-car “A” main. Last chance qualifying races were captured by Roger Gwinn, Tylar Brown, Barry Turner, and Travis Harmon. These filled the remainder of the field.....click to read more

The oldest event held at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech is set to take place this Saturday August 25th, the 1-Hour Figure 8. The Brown’s Oil Service Late Models will take center stage in this intense $2,000-to-win 60-minute intersection interaction. The evening also includes the Shelbyville Auto Parts Thundercars (with a $1,000 to win feature), the Last Chance Wrecker Factory Front Wheel Drives, and Adult Faskarts. It’s Shelbyville Auto Parts night at the races. Tickets are just $10. Seniors, veterans, military, and first responders are $8. Children ages 9 to 12 are $5 and free for those under 9. LATE MODEL TITLE RIVAL BROTHERS SPLIT MAINS ON PENULTIMATE CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT
The fight for the premier point title at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech didn’t disappoint Saturday August 18. The next to last event for the 2018 Brown’s Oil Service Late Model crown saw the top duo step it up. Standings leader Jesse Tunny struck first winning the 25-lap oval feature over Austin Tunny and Tommy St John. Current point runner-up Ben Tunny answered back with victory in the 50-lap Figure 8. He took the lead passing Charlie Hargraves with only 3 to go. St John again finished third. Ben was the quick qualifier at 12.641 seconds. NEAT, FULTS, ARTHUR, NORRIS FINISH FIRST IN FEATURES
There was a special race Saturday night August 11th at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. It was the Toby Eads Memorial 40 for the Shelbyville Auto Parts Thundercars. Point leader Nate Canter was Lawrence Towing’s $100 fastest qualifier in a tight session with a lap of 14.705 seconds. He drew an invert of 10 for the 20-car feature lineup. April-May-June champ EJ Neat put on a command performance from his 2nd starting spot to win the $1,000 winner’s check. Aaron Smay survived a lengthy major battle to finish in second place and Canter third. A big thank you goes out to the Eads family for making this a great event.....click to read more

A beautiful summer evening greeted fans and racers alike Saturday August 11th at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. The show closer was a Brown’s Oil Service Late Model 50-lap Figure 8. Veterans Jeff Shackelford and Charlie Hargraves dueled early for the lead of the event. A red flag restart brought a new pair of spirited battlers, Ben Tunny and Steve Durham, to the front. Ben better a couple late restarts to garner his 9th Figure 8 victory of the campaign. “Bull” Durham equaled a career best second followed by Mike Riddle Jr in third.....click to read more


“THE OUTLAW” WINS FIGURE 8, MILLER MARCHES TO CIRCLE CITY CLASH VICTORY
The Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech had its fifth mile sizzle with a big night August 4th. The Brown’s Oil Service Late Model main event was a wild 50-lap Figure 8. The majority was a battle between Cory Harmon and Steve Durham until the leading Durham was collected at the crossover. Jesse Tunny would work past Harmon to take the victory. Earlier oval feature winner Austin Tunny was second and Cory third. The 25-lap oval podium was rounded out by Chris Green and Mike Riddle Jr. Ben Tunny was the fast qualifier, Riddle and Jeff Smith captured heat races.....click to read more

The Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech launched a doubleheader racing weekend on Friday August 3rd. The Brown’s Oil Service Late Models headlined with a 50-lap Figure 8. There was an epic first half duel between Casey White and Tim Logue. A mid race red brought on a wild restart. Tommy St John made it 3 wide but contact unfortunately affected the trio’s traction. A whopping 126 race cars in 9 features entertained a huge throng of fans who came to meet the drivers in the annual autograph session and brought toys for the yearly Tom Wood Christmas charity drive. Join us this Saturday July 28th for one special evening of events. It is Christmas in July at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. This is the kickoff effort for the Tom Wood Group’s annual Avondale Meadows YMCA Toy Drive. Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy this Saturday night will receive $2 off their spectator admission. Many of the kids and their families from the Avondale Meadows area will be with us Saturday for a night of racing and fun. SATURDAY SEES FIRST LATE MODEL FEATURE SWEEP OF 2018
July 14th had a semi-rare happening in the Brown’s Oil Service Late Models, a sweep of the oval and figure 8 features. Reigning series champ Ben Tunny continued his incomparable season by producing the feat this past Saturday. In the 25-lap oval, he slid around early leader Todd Shelby and went on to victory. Shelby was second and Quentin White third. In the Figure 8, the red sea parted for Ben as he went past Shelby, Steve Durham, Donnie Murphy, and John Conner Jr in one swoop to take his 8th crossover win. Our friends at Circle City Pyrotechnics have prepared a wonderful presentation of color, sparkle, and sound. The display will be featured in the air as well as on the track surface. A large crowd is expected. Seating is all general admission. Tickets are $15 for those ages 13 and up. Ages 9 to 12 are $10. Kids under 9 are free. BEN, DON, NATE, KYLE HOIST TUESDAY CHECKERED FLAGS
It was an intense and exciting Brown’s Oil Service Late Model 75 lap Figure 8 Tuesday July 3rd at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome Powered by Lincoln Tech. The midweek lineup included stars from out of town challenging the home track talent for a $2,000 top prize. Ronnie Basham III and RJ Norton Jr were upfront early before being joined in the first-place pursuit by cousins Mark and Ben Tunny. Mark got the spot and pushed to a nice advantage until heavy traffic hampered his progress. Ben worked thru Norton then Basham and started reeling in the leader. The last third of the race was scintillating as the top two battled all the way. Ben came out on top for his 7th win of the year. Mark was second and Ronnie third.....click to read more
